  • "Great way to get to Sardinia"

    I took the Kallisto (?) from Marseille to Porto Torres and splurged on a cabin with a double bed. A great view out the back of the boat was appreciated, as was the overall condition of the ship — it was worth the expense. Crew were great, and I appreciated them not ejecting the passengers from cabins too early for those continuing past Corsica to Sardinia (the announcement came about an hour before arrival). Shuttlebusses to and from the terminals (both of which were a bit 'out of the way') were appreciated, and the one at Porto Torres takes you right to the railway station (though it's a 2hr wait for the train so best see the town first!) Recommended.

  • "Good but delayed crossings"

    Modern, well equipped ferries with good amenities on board. Unfortunate that no cabins were available for return - overnight cross with just a reclining seat was less enjoyable to end my holiday. Lots of people sleeping on floors and in the self-service restaurant! Crossings were delayed by circa 2 hours in both directions which was frustrating, especially on return as this reduced the time I had with friends in France. On board staff were helpful on both crossings and Toulon port was well signposted. Signposting for exact entry point to ferry port in Porto Torres was very poor and difficult even with help of check-in desk attendant's directions. Also unclear whether printed confirmation had to be exchanged for tickets prior to reaching main port gate (was required on return, but not on outward journey).

  • "Very good trip Genoa -> Porto Torres"

    I used the ferry for a 5 day trip to Sardinia travelling by motorbike. Booking with Direct Ferries was easy and a change I made to accommodation worked fine. Direct Ferries give you vouchers that must be exchanged for the tickets at the office in Genoa - this is located on the 1st floor of the Ferry Terminal Shopping Centre. Luckily being on a bike I could just park it on the pavement and nip in - it is a very congested area so not sure how that would work with a car. I headed down to embarkation about 3 hours before the ferry left just to get out of the mayhem of Genoa. All worked well, I was given a voucher for my cabin and joined the queue. Good thing in Genoa is that you could walk through to the shopping centre after joining the queue and parking up. Boarding was quick and easy, cabin key was collected from reception and luckily I was given a 4 berth cabin. It was clean and functional, shower worked well, no complaints at all. Snack bar had various sandwiches and pastries or you could get a full meal in the restaurant - I didn't bother. After 11 hours of riding that day I was in my cabin at 9pm and slept through. Ship arrived on time and unloading was stress free. All in all an excellent trip.

  • "Really great option for travel between Spain and Sardinia "

    We really enjoyed taking this route between Barcelona and Sardinia. We travelled as foot passengers and had a cabin which was clean and nicely equipped for an overnight journey. Boarding was easy and quick, the boat left (and arrived) a little late but that didn't really affect us at all. The only thing it would have been nice to know in advance that nobody told us was that we would be made to leave our cabin 2 hours before arrival, luckily we were up and ready to go but it would have been a nasty surprise if not! We barely used catering or other seating facilities but they seemed perfectly adequate. Staff were few and far between and not particularly friendly, but they did their jobs as you would expect and we encountered no problems.
