Operated by Brittany Ferries on the Cork Roscoff, Plymouth Roscoff & Plymouth Santander routes
Pont-Aven is Brittany Ferries' flagship and possibly the most luxurious ferry currently in operation. The ship itself boasts stunning features, including a superb pool and leisure area, a wrap around promenade for pleasant deck strolls, and a dramatic five deck high atrium with panoramic views from the lifts. Pont Aven of course also meets all of Brittany Ferries' high standards in dining and facilities, with an a la carte restaurant, cocktail piano bar and 2-storey lounge bar and entertainment area.
The Pont Aven boasts superb onboard cabin accommodation setting new standards in comfort and style. All 650 cabins have air-conditioning with individual temperature control, en-suite bathrooms, comfortable seating and a radio.
The ship also features around 50 reclining seats and for added comfort you can purchase a sleep pack with blanket, sleep mask, ear plugs, and a shower pack with soap and shampoo gel plus disposable towel.
Pont-Aven offers all the dining options you would expect on a cruise ship, from the à la carte Flora Restaurant to the self-service restaurants, La Belle Angèle and Le Café du Festival, with food freshly prepared by our skilled French chefs.
Pont Aven's main lounge bar ‘Le Grand Pavois’ serves a range of cocktails as well as beers and wines, hot and cold drinks plus snacks. With seating on two decks joined by a large sweeping staircase, the bar area has a real cruise ship feel. It is also the focal point for entertainment provided by magicians, singers and bands and there are a number of flat screen televisions showing big sports matches and news updates to ensure that you never get bored.
This stylish cocktail bar, adjacent to Le Flora Restaurant ‘Le Fastnet’, is the perfect place for an aperitif or a post-dinner digestif and the relaxed mood is enhanced by the pianist.
During the summer season and on busy off-season crossings you can enjoy Pont Aven's pool and leisure area bar ‘Les Finistères’ which serves wines, beers and soft drinks.
Pont Aven boutiques are on decks 6 and 7 and offer a fine range of spirits, wine, tobacco, perfumes & cosmetics, leather goods, confectionery, toys, fashion, decoration, souvenirs, newspapers, games, cameras, sunglasses, jewellery.
Purchases made on board may be paid for in Euros or Sterling. Payment can be made in cash, by credit or debit card. Prices are shown in both currencies and you can combine different payment methods.
In addition to the Cinema's, bureau de change, casino (slot machines) and live entertainment, there is a magnificent indoor pool area which offers guests the chance to unwind, relax on a sun lounger, sip a drink at the bar, or have a splash in the pool with its great sea-views.
For a stroll, the Promenade allows you to walk all around the ship, while the ship's top deck offers a calm spot to relax, while enjoying the sea air and incredible views, particularly when entering or leaving the port.
Pont Aven features a number of lounges onboard where you can relax including a reclining seat lounge (for those that aren't travelling with a cabin), Commodore lounge (an exclusive room for suite passengers, and includes access to two side patio areas) and a spacious lounge on the mezzanine level of the main bar with comfortable lounge chairs and sofas.
You can also take a free audio guided 21 stage tour explaining the decoration and art works aboard the ship.
Young children can enjoy fun and games in the playroom and the games room will keep teenagers entertained throughout the trip. Highlights include the latest video games and an air hockey table.
There are a number of cabins adapted for disabled passengers and all decks are accessible by lift.

Well organised vehicle loading. Cabin was first class. Food was an example to other ferry operators for quality and price. Crew and staff very helpful and pleasant. Facilities and shops very good for an overnight trip.

"Plymouth Roscoff on Britany Ferries"
Fantastic ship and felt I was on a cruise rather than a crossing. I have used Brittany ferries on many occasion and really like the boats; well maintained, comfortable. I would not hesitate to recommend Brittany ferries as their service is always above expectations.

"Plymouth - Roscoff"
An excellent journey at a good price. Our cabin was very comfortable, the ferry had excellent facilities including a swimming pool!... unfortunately this was out of use as we had an overnight sailing. The food was overpriced so we didn't have a meal. Would definitely use this company again.

"The way to Spain and how to start your holiday!"
This was my first ferry trip to Spain, I am fortunate enough to be able to spend several weeks away this winter and sadly not wealthy enough to hire a car for that long so decided to take my own. What great idea, the additional insurance costs and roadside assistance upgrade were very inexpensive and the ferry cost not much more than the flight costs. The Brittany ferry Pont Aven was a treat to be on. Every member of staff I dealt with was pleasant and helpful nothing seemed too much bother and they seemed happy to be there which was infectious. Spotlessly clean it had an excellent restaurant and we enjoyed a fine dinner in the evening. The piano bar was really relaxing and the pianist very good indeed. Sailing out of Plymouth in the sunshine did make me wonder why I was going at all but waking up and going on deck after a good breakfast answered my question as sailing into Santander with sun and warmth was even better! The cabin was small but had everything you needed for a good nights' sleep. I don't think I'll travel to Spain any other way from now on except perhaps going from Portsmouth and shortening my journey in England.

"Another fab trip to Spain on Brittany ferries "
We have done the 24 hour crossing from Portsmouth to Santander twice now and it is a great way to start the holiday. We take our motor home and the crossing gives us a 24hr reprieve from driving. The facilities have been excellent each time and service great. The cabins are nice and comfortable and food in the al a Carte restaurant is as good as many top restaurants we have visited. Staff very attentive and A good price for a 3 course meal.

"Pont Aven"
Would highly recommend using Brittany Ferries on the Santander to Portsmouth route. Although we departed later than scheduled due to a medical emergency on the inbound route, Brittany Ferries had already notified us of the delay before we got to Santander ...... and we made up the lost time overnight so arrived back in Portsmouth on schedule. The ship is absolutely immaculate and our inside cabin was clean and functional (even with bunk beds!).

"Roscoff-Cork ferry"
I,with my Partner and her son, travelled from Roscoff to Cork on the nght of June 3rd with the Pont Aven and returned with the same on June18th. I found the staff to be friendly and very helpful (with the exception of one bartender who had not enough experience to know his job does not entail being a smart-ass. But no doubt he will learn or be taught.) I was annoyed that ships prices were in Sterling and at a ruinous exchange rate to €uros, which currency is that of both France and Ireland not GBP. But I am sure that will soon change with the brexit and the debased british pound ( buy sterling while it iis cheap or pay by card). Ships punctuality is good but as a foot passenger you will not get off the boat before 10:00. Everybody else seems to have precedence ,so do not expect to arrive in Cork city before 11.30 (Ringaskiddy is 20km. outside of Cork) so plan your further travel accordingly.

"Our Journey"
Both journeys were really enjoyable experiences for both of us. The cabin was clean and although the bunk beds posed no problems for us personally perhaps they would others.

We found the Pont Aven to be an excellent ship with good food, plenty of space and it was a very smooth, comfortable crossing. Although we started a little late, time was made up during the trip and we arrived early. Most convenient.

"easy crossing"
From our arrival at Portsmouth to the docking in Santander every thing was pleasant and made very easy. We were greeted by friendly staff who´s smiles made our particular disappointing trip down from the east Midlands a thing of the past (3hrs sat on the M3). The ferry was loaded and on its way in no time, plenty of space available for watching the UK disappear from view. In fairness our crossing was made on a sea that was like a mirror so no nasty bumps or swells, but that aside the adequate cabin with plenty of hot water for showering was comfy. The food served was more than acceptable in standard, again my pallet prefers food that is very hot but the micro waves that are on hand made this possible in a few seconds. Getting off the ferry was an easy task and the road ahead was clear to go.
