    Even with crutches I felt good, comfortable entrance, fast escalator, nice and comfortable seats. I did not have problem to move because it was not that much busy on board. Punctual ferry and even cafè service.

Termoli Guide

The Italian town of Termoli is located on the Adriatic Sea coast, in the Province of Campobasso in the region of Molise. Known originally as a fishing port, it has over recent years become a popular resort for Italians. The old town has many examples of restored pastel coloured painted houses. A popular attraction in the town is the 12th and 13th century cathedral located in the central square. The cathedral was dedicated to St. Mary of the Purification and is a splendid example of Apulian Romanesque architecture. Contained within the cathedral are the relics of Vassus of Lucera (San Basso) and Timothy, the city's two patron saints. Also in the town is the 11th century castle which was built by Count Robert I of Loritello during the Norman domination of the town and formed part of a larger system of fortification which also included a wall surrounding the town, of which only a tower remains.

For a more relaxing vacation, the town's beaches are popular with tourists. Within a radius of about 25 km from Termoli visitors to the town can reach the hilltowns of Larino, Casacalenda, Montorio and Montelongo which preserve a way of life which is disappearing in other, more developed, parts of Italy.

Termoli is the only port with year-round ferries to the Isole Tremiti.

San Domino Guide

The Italian island of San Nicholas lies in the Isole Tremiti Archipelago in the Adriatic Sea. There are five islands in the archipelago and they are San Domino, St. Nicholas, Cretaccio, Capraia and Pianosa, and collectively the islands form a commune of Italy's Province of Foggia and form part of the Gargano National Park. The island's can trace their history back to the Iron Age although in the Middle Ages the archipelago was ruled by the Abbey of Santa Maria a Mare (Holy Mary of the Sea) at San Nicholas island which is thought to have been founded in the 9th century by Benedictine monks from Montecassino.

The island's were used for the detention of political prisoners during Mussolini's Fascist regime. Today, the islands are an important tourist destination because of their crystal clear warm waters. San Nicholas is where most of the population live and is the site of a monastery where a monk named Nicolò was buried. Legend has it that every time someone tried to move his corpse off the island, a violent storm would break out, preventing navigation around the island.
