Me and my wife travelled with the day ferry from Poland to Ystad. We had booked a cabin but that wasn't needed since there were lots of places where you could sit down and rest during the crossing. One thing we especially appreciated was the big selection of food places, bars et.c. onboard. We often travel to Germany and they lack this big selection of "restaurants" that we found on this ferry. We feel very positive about this trip and will most likely choose the ferry to Poland next time we go for a holiday by car at the continent.

Most of the city is built on the islands of Usedom and Wolin, but also on other smaller islands, with the largest being Karsibor island. The German resort of Ahlbeck on Usedom is a close neighbour of Swinoujscie and are linked by a road and a promenade that is 12 km long.
Interesting sights in the city include the Museum of Deep Sea Fishing which is located in the former town hall. The museum's exhibits contain a history of sea fishing, sea animals, the town and its surrounding area and old navigation equipment. Also in the city is the Angel's Fort which was built between 1845 and 1858 and is a replica of Hadrian's Mausoleum in Rome. Concerts and art exhibitions are held at the Western Fort which was built between 1843–1863. The Fort has been modernised a few times in the past, and from after World War II until 1962 it was the headquarters of the Red Army.
Swinoujscie has the largest and most modern ferry terminal in Poland, with regular connections to destinations in Denmark and Sweden.
The Swedish town and port of Ystad is a popular visitor destination and is located around 60 km to the south east of Malmo. Some of the town's most popular attractions can be found around the Stora Ostergatan and Stora Norregatans, and includes the Anglahuset building which dates back to the 17th century. Also popular with visitors are the sandy beaches at Sankta Maria Kyrka on the Stortorget and the Ystad Kontsmuseum on the St. Knuts Torg which contains fine examples of Danish art and is located next to the town's Tourist Office.
A popular attraction in the town is the Wallander (Wallander is a popular fictional Swedish detective) guided tour where most of the town and its historic attractions are included. However, if you choose not to go on a guided tour the main historical attractions are St Knut's Square, Grey Friars Monastery which dates back to the 12th century and is adjacent to Saint Petri's Church and Museum.
