"A pleasant and comfortable journey."
This is a well appointed ship with something for every type of traveller - entertainment, shopping, etc. As a single passenger with only the need to make a relaxing transition from one port to another, I found it ideal. Helped by balmy autumn weather and a calm sea, the crossing felt effortless. The cabin was an internal one and somewhat small but adequate as I had it to myself - it was built to accommodate two people and that would have been cramped. I enjoyed a good night's sleep. The meals I had were excellent and not over-priced. Overall I was very pleased with my experience.

Driving back from Russia to England we opted to take the more scenic route through Scandinavia thus securing a place on the Tallinn silja ferry from riga to Stockholm.. I'm not normally that guy that writes reviews but I make the exception here today .. What a beautiful ferry with a cracking variety of activities taking place all through the night .. Initially planned on having a couple of pints and a nice lie in but ended up dancing the night away at the nighttime disco and drinking whiskey with a few chaps in the skylight bars till the early hours .. Still suffering from the hangover a week on but well worth it !

I did not like the ship very much. First of all our cabin underneath car deck was not clean and had stains on the wall. We upgraded and paid for a better cabin. Not many activities on board.

Latvia's capital city can trace its history back over 800 years to 1201 and was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its Art Nouveau/Jugendstil architecture and also for its 19th century timber architecture. A popular attraction in the city is the Dome Cathedral which is known the world over for its acoustics and giant organ. One of the organ music concerts regularly held in the cathedral is definitely worth a visit. There are also a number of music festivals held in the city during the summer with opera, jazz and rock all represented. The city also has many interesting museums, exhibitions and art galleries for visitors to explore. Riga is also one of Latvia's largest centres for tourism, in part because of its cultural and historic offerings, but also because it has excellent air, road, rail and sea transport links.
The commercial port in Riga is the heart of the city. Many of the city's hotels, restaurants and embassies are within a 5 minute walk from the old town in the Vecriga area. Passenger services operating from the port depart to Stockholm in Sweden, with a crossing time of around 17 hours, and to Lubeck in Germany, with a crossing time of around 31 hours.
Stockholm is the capital city of Sweden and is made up of a series of islands located on Sweden's eastern coast and is widely regarded as one of the world's most beautiful cities. There are many picturesque scenes to be had in the city and its skyline is reflected in the waters of Lake Malaren and enjoys vibrant blue summer skies whilst in the winter the city is often covered by snow and is scattered by lovely lights.
The extremely modern city is known for its design, fashion and lively nightlife but has still managed to preserve its roots in the Old Town area known as the Gamla Stan, where you can quite easily lose yourself in history. The city's maze of cobbled streets is based around the Stortorget, the Big Square, whilst to the south and on a further island, the Sodermalm, offers a definite bohemian atmosphere with its many galleries and historic residences and lovely waterfront.
From the city's port, ferries depart to destinations in Finland, Russia and the Baltic States.
