Ferries to Poland

Poland is a large parliamentary republic in Central Europe, with a long coastline facing the Baltic Sea and a population of more than 38.5 million people. Covering over 312,000 square kilometres, it’s bordered by several countries while encompassing many different landscapes.

Battered by the Second World War, Poland has transformed itself into Central Europe’s finest success story following the stifling Communist Rule which swept across the eastern continent after it was liberated from the Nazis. Today, it’s a forward-thinking, entrepreneurial powerhouse with skyscraper-studded skylines, particularly in the capital and financial hub of Warsaw.

Unchanged throughout history, however, is the Polish countryside. The fourth most forested country in Europe comprises sweeping flats, over 2 million private farms and low-lying mountains on the southern border. Protected by 23 national parks, the nature in Poland is supremely untouched, with lengthy walking trails guiding you along winding rivers, around sparkling lakes and through mountainous valleys. This is not to mention the spellbinding structures of both ruinous and fully functioning castles dotting the hilltops, with red-brick fortresses contrasting spectacularly against emerald green meadows.

Poland’s cities are equally enthralling. Krakow, the cultural capital, has poignant stories within its museums, beautiful churches around every corner and the largest market square in Europe. As one of the country’s most iconic cities, its centre has been recognised by UNESCO and placed on the World Heritage Site List. The official capital city, Warsaw, sits on the Vistula River, boasting a wonderfully restored Old Town designed in the style of Canaletto’s classicist paintings, with almost every building dated to the post-war era.

With its only coastline on the Baltic Sea, all ferries to Poland come from Scandinavia, given the relatively short distance between the two. This part of the world produces some of the most luxurious operators around, ensuring comfort and ease of travel, while offering regular sailings to the Polish port cities of Gdansk and Swinoujscie.

Poland reviews

  • "Efficient"

Simple to use website, easy to select additional services, responsive email. Ship loaded on time with staff positioned exactly where needed. Clean toilets and catering facilities. Well signed and decor good. Catering in club class OK but would have liked a hot roll with bacon or sausage instead of cold offer. Arrival on time and disembarkation excellent.

  • "A comfortable voyage."

I must say that Stena Lines service was excellent on our recent trip to Hook of Holland. The boarding process was easy and fast. The cabin was roomy and clean. Leaving the vessel in the morning was also speedy. I will travel another time with Stena Line. Thank you.

  • "Excellent crew"

Great experience...after years of dodging Stena after some poor trips we were surprised by how friendly and efficient the crew were especially the guy in charge of the premium lounge who did his best to make our journey comfortable.

  • "Review"

Had a fabulous crossing to and from Ireland. Have been to Ireland to visit family many times but always flown, lots to do for children on the ferry. Return trip especially, the children's entertainers were fabulous!!! Will definitely travel with Stena line again. One downside was the cost of breakfast.... Overpriced and very expensive, just under £5 for a bacon roll...... Fed the kids before travelling home.
