Wightlink Ferries, with its predecessors, has been connecting the mainland with the Isle of Wight by ferry for over 160 years, and is now one of the UK’s largest operators.

The company we know today has taken the service from its early pioneering days of steam travel to its present position sailing between the mainland and the Isle of Wight up to 150 times a day with 3 routes, the shortest of which lasts just 22 minutes.

A modern fleet of car ferries sails from Lymington to Yarmouth, and Portsmouth to Fishbourne, while high-speed foot passenger catamarans are used on the Portsmouth Harbour to Ryde Pier crossing.

Wightlink is the main link between the Isle of Wight and the mainland and every year carries over 4.6 million passengers.     The service is excellent but the costs is too high. I realised it was around 20% of my whole spend. They need to lower the price in my opinion. The stay on the Isle of Wight was Brilliant.

    Good website. Emailed about parking and got a quick helpful response. Parking facilities at the port were good Signposting in car park could be improved. Could not pay by credit card at machine and notice directing you to office to make payment but poor signage with directions to said office. Ferries were punctual and clean with cheerful helpful staff both ways . Would be happy to use again and recommend.

  • "Great experience"

    This ferry trip was very relaxed, easy and enjoyable. Our three young children loved it. Good coffee and sitting area at the departure lounge and onboard. Great views, comfy seats and helpful information about places on the Isle of Wight. We were early getting to the ferry and offered an earlier return trip which was great service.
