Sami Guide

Sami is a small town on the island of Cephalonia, one of the Ionian Islands that rests to the west of the Greek mainland. The port is used as the gateway to Italy, connecting passengers to the Italian west coast.

What is there to do in Sami?

Many Greek resorts are famed for their beaches, but it’s the entrance to the beach that holds much of the appeal. A three kilometre stretch of forestry leads visitors towards the coastline, regarded by some as one of the most beautiful ingresses belonging to Greece. Once at the beach, tourists and locals alike can bask in the glorious sunshine and white sands; a couple of beach bars line the perimeter for last minute towel hire or a refreshing drink. The beach is fairly small so it may be worth heading there early to find a spot to lay your towel and top up your tan.

The beaches of Greece are nearly always the highlight, and you don’t have to stray far to find more vibrant spots of tourism. The waterfront is an epicentre of vivacity and energy, with restaurants decorating the harbour, typically serving fresh seafood as the specialty of the day. There is more to Sami than just the waterfront and beaches; colourful houses and charming cafes adorn the villages, embodying the quintessential Greek experience.
