Nice Ajaccio Ferry reviews

  • "Nice to Ajaccio"

First of all the port of Nice:- There are two areas of the port where you can board the ferries, one on each side of the port or harbour, approx 20 mins walk from each other. There is a small mini bus that runs between each of them. However there does not appear to be any way on knowing, certainly not in English which side/office to go to. Other than that everything went very smoothly. The ferries:- All the 'Corsica Ferries' which we travelled with seem to be based in Genoa, so the crew is mostly Italian, which wasn't a problem, but a little unexpected. The ferries were well run and clean, with good food and helpful staff, would certainly recommend them if travelling from southern France to either Bastia or Ajaccio in Corsica.

The trip was smooth and without any problems. All is well organized and efficient. The ferry is overall clean and the staff is nice. The reclining seats could use some reparations.

  • "Our Holiday trip to Corsica started in Nice"

We found the trip a little more exciting. Okay, we’ve travelled by boat to Texel in the past but this is different. Spending more than 6 hours on a boat is not nothing. There were plenty of beach chairs on the deck and when it got too hot, we went inside to one of the many lounges to watch a live World Cup game! It really felt like some kind Love boat. Very relaxed!

Nice Guide

The French city of Nice is located on the south east coast of the country and lies on the Mediterranean Sea coast. It is the Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur region's second largest city, after Marseille. Over recent years the city has been experiencing an economic, cultural, artistic and architectural revolution. For centuries, however, Nice has been a popular destination for tourists and is within driving distance to other tourist destinations in the region including Cannes, Antibes and Villefrance-sur-Mer. The city caters for the high end traveller, with a number of luxury hotels mainly located around the Promenade des Anglais, down to the most price sensitive, with an equally good selection of backpacker hostels and cheaper hotels. The villas of Nice have never been more popular, with the most exclusive having the best views of the French Riviera coastline, with others looking inland towards the surrounding hills and vineyards.

In the heart of the city is the port which provides ferry connections to Corsica, Calvi, Bastia, Ajaccio and L'Ile Rousse. Passenger facilities at the port's two terminals include a tourist information office, car parking, showers, toilets, public telephones and a baby changing area.

Ajaccio Guide

Ajaccio is the largest town on the French island of Corsica and is located on its south west coast, around 210 miles to the south east of Marseille, on the French mainland. The harbour in the town lies at the bottom of a hill that overlooks the peninsular which protects the harbour, and to the east of the original citadel, and on the northern shore of the Gulf of Ajaccio. Napoleon Bonaparte is arguably the town's most famous resident who was born in the Casa Buonaparte in 1769. His former house is now open to the public. The town's lovely mellow-toned buildings, lively cafes and marina make the town an ideal place to stroll through and explore.

The town's harbour is a major stop over for cruises and is the second busiest in France, after Marseille. Ferries from the port depart almost daily to Marseille, Toulon and Nice on the French mainland. There are also seasonal services to Livorno, Sardinia, Calvi and Propriano. The two major shipping companies providing these links are SNCM and Corsica Ferries.
