Our journey too/ from Naples to Ischia worked well last week. The online booking through Direct Ferries was simple from the Uk sometime before departure. The ferries were on time. Good experience overall. We travelled from Rome to Naples by train (very easy, comfortable, quick, efficient, clean. No need to print out tickets, just show the booking reference to the guard on the train). The information point in Naples station directed us to the underground metro ( line1, 2 stops to the Port) again very simple. We caught the bus on arrival at Ischia - again simple. The bus stop can be seen as you disembark - a gathering of buses to the left of the port. Our journey to Sant Angelo took about 35 mins and cost 1.20 euro so don't be tempted to take one of the taxis lined up in the port! ischia is beautiful!

Everything was better than expected. I was very late after almost losing my phone. They let me board with only 5 min to spare. Pleasantly surprised to find air conditioned seats.

It is the largest of the three islands, with the other two being Procida and Capri, and seems a world away from the throng of activity that visitors to will experience in the streets of Naples, despite Ischia only being a short ferry crossing away. The small island has around 40 km of coastline which provides visitors with ample opportunities to laze on one of the sun soaked beaches. The mountainous terrain found inland is a paradise for climbers whilst the rolling hills, of volcanic origin, provide a lovely walk and panoramic views of the island. The town of Saint Angelo provides a traffic free urban environment where visitors will find an elegant town filled with boutiques and shops selling local pottery and other local products.
From the port on Ischia ferries depart to Naples, Pozzuoli and Procida.
