The French coastal town of Granville is located on a rocky headland on the far eastern point of Mont-Saint-Michel Bay in the north west of France. Visitors to the town will find a picturesque long beach in the centre of the town, and a port and harbour surrounded by houses dating back to the 19th century. At the end of the beach there is staircase leading to the gardens and 19th century 'Villa les Rhumbs' where Christian Dior and family spent each summer. The famous fashion designer was born in the town in 1905 and his house is now a museum dedicated to his creations. The town's most religious monument, and a popular attraction, is the 17th century Church of Notre-Dame which overlooks the sea and is located in the town's historic centre. The church is perhaps best known for is modern stained glass windows. Also in the town is the Church of Saint-Paul and a small protestant temple.
