Operated by Balearia on the Alcudia Barcelona, Alcudia Ciutadella & Barcelona Ibiza routes
Launched in 2009, the Martin i Soler is part of the Balearia+ series meaning it's faster, much greener and more luxurious than a conventional ship. Onboard this modern ship you'll find a bar, cafeteria, self service restaurant, a choice of cabins, comfortable seating lounges, children’s play area, luggage lockers, a solarium, swimming pool, games room and a shop.
The Martin i Soler features numerous 4 berth air conditioned en-suite cabins with 2 seat table and wardrobe, 2 double cabins adapted for passengers with reduced mobility and 4 luxury suites with 2 king size beds. All cabins are modern with a minimalistic interior design.
This ship also has a 'Neptune' Lounge which is a pre-reserved spacious seating area featuring fully reclining black leather seats and electrical sockets.
The Martín i Soler has several bar and restaurant facilities including a self-service restaurant with something to suit all tastes as well as a Pizzeria. The restaurant offers a children’s menu and low-calorie options. In the summer months there is ice-cream café during the day and chill out bar in the evening.
In the onboard shop you can buy cosmetics, perfumes, chocolates, sweets, clothing, gifts, travel essentials and more.
On the decks there are deckchairs and benches where you can relax and enjoy the crossing as well as a swimming pool with outdoor bar and several relaxation areas.
The Martín i Soler also features permanent mobile phone coverage through the SEANET network which provides international satellite coverage (calls carry a surcharge which varies depending on the operator). Wi-Fi is available for a small fee during the crossing too.
Children will not get board during their crossing on the Martín i Soler. There's a dedicated play area for young children and a games room for the older children.
Baleària’s staff members, both on board and on land, are available to assist passengers with reduced mobility however it is advised to mention if assistance is required both when making the reservation and when checking in.
There are also lifts connecting all the passenger decks.
Please Note: Whilst we have taken great care in making our Martin i Soler guide as accurate as possible, onboard facilities, services and entertainment may vary depending on the date and time of year that you travel, facilities mentioned may change without notification and ferry companies reserve the right to operate vessels other than those mentioned at time of booking without prior notification.

"A relaxing way to travel "
We enjoyed a relaxing day traveling from Cuitadella to Bacelona. We could have chosen the fly but that would have meant catching buses to and from the airports by taking the ferry we were able to walk. Our seats were large and comfortable and we were able to chose from various areas in which to sit incluing a movie area. We spent a fair part of the journey on deck relaxing on sun lounges. The only thing that marred the trip for me was we didn't realise when the cafeteria was closing and just misssed out on buying food from there. We were able to buy food from the bar at the reat of the ferry but as l am gluten intoletant they were not real options for me. It would be better if there had a packaged salad or fruit available. I would travel wiyh direct ferries again and recomend it as a wonderful experience.

"Nice Trip"
Me and my family were very happy while travelling with the ships of direct ferries from Barcelona to Ciutadella and back again. We enjoyed the food on board and especially the soft seats in the Neptun class. The personal was friendly and helpful. The orientation was a bit difficult, because some stairs were closed outside

"Good crossing...big improvements in Balearia facilities and staff attitudes"
Very good crossing, smooth and uneventful. Everything went smoothly checking in and staff were very polite and extremely helpful, which is a big improvement from previous trips. We stopped using Balearia for some time because they just made things difficult, but what a transformation now. They couldn't do enough to help and were very accommodating at all times. Glad they have pulled their socks up, they must have lost a lot of business to Acciona. We always travel with our dog and in the past they did not give any thought to the transport of animals, and this was very stressful to both the animal and the owners. Glad to say this has changed and pets are kept in a secure area under lock and key. Would definitely use Balearia again now they have improved. Well done Balearia!!!

"Skimming the med"
Comfy seats, plenty of space and decent facilities should have made this trip a pleasure. Unfortunately due to some nefarious neighbouring nocturnal snoring activities we arrived in Ciutadella rather exhausted. If Godzilla had not been asleep next to us I think the tori would have got 5 stars. Good way of convincing passengers to hire a private cabin!

"Safety"
We were very pleased with the ease with which we booked on line our ferry crossing from Barcelona to Cuitadella. Our cabin was clean and comfortable and the crew were polite and helpful. However these considerations did not register at the time as I was very distraught at having my hand bag stolen from the car when I went in to the Balearia Terminal to book in while my husband was waiting outside with the car and our dog. Naturally I was distraught and reported the theft to the staff in the terminal who were completely uninterested and only said "if your passports are gone you cannot travel". I was crying and a member of staff came to the counter with a handful of tissues but instead of offering them to me as I thought she was going to she proceeded to clean her keyboard with them. Fortunately I had had our passports with me when I went in to the terminal to collect our tickets prior to boarding so these were the only things I didn't lose but my money, credit cards, phone and any number of personal items are now gone forever. We have since heard of all manner of similar horror stories and experienced travellers have advised us to always park in the embarking area of the terminal rather than outside when booking in as this is safer. I would suggest that travellers are made aware of the risk of robbers in the Port area and that the designated embarking area is either shown on the confirmation of the booking or e mailed to the traveller prior to their departure.

"Direct Ferries Customer Service"
Journey was perfect. (Menorca-Barcellona) I realized late that if you book with the operator you could save money. Before the departure I contacted the Direct Ferries costumer service, asking informations about the online check in with Baleari, because one code called NDI was missing, than I realized that it was the number of the document added when I booked. The lady of the customer service told that it was not possible to do the check in onlinte because I bought the ticket with them and I was supposed to go directly to the ticket office at the port, but it was enough to insert the id number together with the booking number. I can understand the incompetece but I cannot tolerate negligence. If I had listened to them I would have lost a lot of time for the check in. If they don't know the procedures they should be sorry and hush, and don't give wrong informations. Baleari excellent, Direct Ferries just enough.

"Barcelona-Ciutadella round trip"
It was not easy to rest on the night outbound trip, even in a 1° class seating, also the stop at 4:45 am at Alcùdia interrupted a rest already poor because of kids presence not really inclined to sleep, I will recomend the cabin!!The return trip during the day was more pleasant, even if you lose the day, the time goes nicely because of the differnt services on board, like bar, pool, shops.

"A great way to travel"
We travelled overnight to Alcudia and had a cabin. The return was during the afternoon and we were very comfortable and enjoyed a good meal. The cabin was clean and very comfortable. The early call at 04:30 was not good, but necessary. Staff were helpful and friendly and the service was punctual. Definitely better than travelling by air.
